Why Nah-Jee-Wah?

Camp Nah-Jee-Wah reimagines the typical camp experience.

As a Jewish summer camp in Pennsylvania, Camp Nah-Jee-Wah seeks to provide a nurturing, caring, and supportive environment for campers entering 1st through 6th grade. NJY Camps’ Milford Campus, the largest single Jewish overnight campus, is our home every summer. Our goal is for our campers to grow as individuals and learn valuable lessons in friendship, independence, and self-confidence, all set against the backdrop of the peaceful Pocono Mountains. The heart and soul of camp is the feeling of family and togetherness that the bunk experience provides. Living in a group during the summer fosters a camaraderie that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

Our top-notch staff from around the world are not only experts in their particular activity, but are also trained to deal with the specific needs of elementary-aged children. We foster a “joyful Judaism,” where our informal Jewish touchpoints are both fun and easy to understand regardless of whether campers have a Jewish background or if it’s their first exposure.

But really, why Camp Nah-Jee-Wah? Walk alongside us as we pass the stomping of cleats on the sprawling sports fields, spot the splashing along the Skyland Beach lakefront, and watch the creative identities of campers emerge in the art-focused learning space of the Den. Follow us to the lagoon by the ropes course to witness the zooming of zip lines. Join us in smelling the sweet and savory aromas as we pass the grand dining hall on our way to the amphitheater where the heart of Camp Nah-Jee-Wah is formed during Shabbat services, shows, and celebrations.

To us, community is the moment our voices become one as we sing in the amphitheater, the eruption of laughter that fills the dining hall during meal times, and the peaceful calm that follows ‘lights out.’ We build this sense of belonging by hosting special events such as Shabbat services, Fourth of July fireworks, weekly BBQs, lip-sync competitions, Maccabiah (Color War), and so much more.

Often, the greatest highlights of the summer are when the entire camp is brought together as one. Campers become part of the Nah-Jee-Wah family and as the end of summer draws to a close, they already begin the countdown to next summer.

So to answer your question—we choose Camp Nah-Jee-Wah because it’s more than just a Jewish sleepaway camp in Pennsylvania. It’s our home away from home.

Our Programs and Activities

Campers participate in six daily activities, two or three of which they choose themselves based on their individual needs and interests. During each of these activities, campers receive excellent instruction and learn new skills while having fun.

Health & Nutrition

At Camp Nah-Jee-Wah, the safety and physical well-being of our campers and staff is our number one priority! We provide nutritious and well-balanced meals that kids will enjoy eating and have a resident health staff that oversee the medical care of our campers throughout the summer.

Round Lake at Camp Nah-Jee-Wah

Round Lake is an inclusion program serving children and adolescents with, but not limited to, social communication disorders, ADHD, learning differences, and anxiety at Camp Nah-Jee-Wah. Our program is built upon a philosophy of opportunity and choice for all campers.

Whatever you are doing, you are doing it right! From the Jewish Values program to the hand motions in birkat, my three kids loved and absorbed it all. We cannot thank you enough.
